The Jacksonville Jaguars need Maurice Jones-Drew. So far, the star running back has been missing from camp, holding out for a new deal with the team. The Jaguars say no new deal is coming, and the two sides have yet to have any conversations with the preseason opening in just a week, according to the Florida Times Union.

Jones-Drew has two years left on his contract. The team wants him to honor that deal rather than negotiate a new one. The cost of the holdout is snowballing for the running back. He is now subject to $300,000 in fines for missing the team’s mandatory minicamp in the spring and the first week of training camp.
Head coach Mike Mularkey has not said whether or not the team will follow through on the fines once Jones-Drew does return to camp.
