Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells started training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, still recovering from the knee surgery he had back in January. Wells was expected to return sometime in the middle of camp, and on Thursday head coach Ken Whisenhunt said the plan is to have him play in their first preseason game on August 17. Cardinals Expect Beanie Wells Back In Action On Aug. 17
If things go according to plan, Whisenhunt said running back Beanie Wells would be able to play in the Oakland game, which would be the Cards' first preseason home game. There is a long time before then, however, and nothing is set in stone. Wells is still on track to start practicing some next week.
Wells can be moved from the preseason PUP list to the active roster at any point during camp, and according to Urban, that could take place with him beginning practice next week.
