Packers Release Anthony Hargrove

With the Monday deadline looming to cut the rosters down to 75 players, the Green Bay Packers released defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove on Friday, according to USA Today’s Howard Balzer.

Hargrove signed with the Packers on March 29, but was suspended for the first eight games of the 2012 season by the NFL for his involvement in the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal during his time with the Saints in the 2009 NFL season.

In the official press release from the NFL regarding the suspensions, the league claimed that “Hargrove submitted a signed declaration to the league that established not only the existence of the program at the Saints, but also that he knew about and participated in it.”

Hargrove was a third-round draft pick of the St. Louis Rams in the 2004 NFL Draft and stayed with the team for two full seasons before being traded during the 2006 season. He then spent time with the Bills, Saints, Eagles and Seahawks before signing with the Packers.
