Mandatory Credit: Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE NFL teams made the first round of required roster cuts on Monday, cutting their numbers from 90 to 75 and they’ll be at it again on Friday night, cutting from 75 to 53 players. Getting down to 53 players isn’t only cutting your players -- it’s placing them on IR, keeping some on PUP list and cutting others to put them on the practice squad.

Britt missed the majority of the 2011-12 season after tearing both the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee last September, but has been rehabbing towards his return. Now that he’s off the PUP list, as Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports, he’s presumably able to resume activities, according to doctors, and will begin practicing with the team. However, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will likely have something to say about that.
Britt was arrested for driving under the influence in July, marking the eighth run-in with the law during an NFL career that has spanned less than four years. The former first-round draft pick was warned by Goodell about his behavior last year during a visit with the commissioner related to another incident.
