The New England Patriots made several roster moves Monday, releasing five players in order to reach the NFL roster limit of 75 players.
Patriots Roster Cuts: Jabar Gaffney, Donte’ Stallworth Among New England’s Initial Cuts
A few notable names were among Monday's cuts, including wide receivers Jabar Gaffney and Donte Stallworth. Both players signed with the Patriots this offseason after playing for the Redskins in 2011. The decision to release Gaffney may come as somewhat of a surprise as he saw time with New England's first team offense during training camp.
On the defensive side, New England released 11-year veteran Gerard Warren. Warren spent the last two seasons in New England, playing in 12 games last year. The team also released Tim Bulman and Ross Ventrone.
In addition to the five players released, New England placed Will Allen, Josh Barrett and Spencer Larsen on injured reserve.
