Dolphins Roster Cuts: Miami Reaches 75 Player Limit

The Miami Dolphins made their final round of cuts on Monday, trimming the roster down to the mandatory 75 players. There was a 4 p.m. deadline set by the NFL to have the rosters in accordance with league rules.

The most notable cut was wide receiver Julius Pruitt. The folks over at SB Nation's Dolphins blog, The Phinsider, believed Pruitt had a good shot at making the roster due to strong special teams play. With the speedy receiver no longer in the mix, Miami has 10 players remaining to possibly see playing time at wideout.

Eric Steinbach, a guard, was placed on the retirement list. Jonas Gray was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list, although it was for a non-football injury. The other players cut included tight end Les Brown, cornerback Marcus Brown, cornerback Trenton Hughes, safety Tyrell Johnson, linebacker Josh Linam, tailback Jerome Messam, defensive end Jacquies Smith and cornerback Jonathan Wade.

The Dolphins also traded cornerback Vontae Davis to the Colts on Sunday in exchange for a second round pick in 2013.
