Terrell Owens Released By Seattle Seahawks

Wide receiver Terrell Owens has been released by the Seattle Seahawks after the team gave the 38-year-old veteran a chance to make the squad in 2012, according to Owens.

Owens, who was signed with Seattle at the beginning of August, said he was no longer a member of the team on his Twitter feed.

Owens did have two receptions for 41 yards in Seattle's third preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but was unable to impress coach Pete Carroll and the Seahawks management enough to overcome a reported deficit in performance in practice against fellow wide receiver Braylon Edwards.

In the Seahawks' second preseason game, quarterback Matt Flynn targeted Owens five times, but completed none of them. Many of the incompletions were a result of Owens dropping the ball, including a bomb that should have gone for a 46-yard touchdown toss. Instead, the ball went through Owens' hands.
