Seahawks Announce Roster Cuts

The Seattle Seahawks announced a wave of roster cuts on Sunday, as they prepare to whittle the team down to 75 players in anticipation of Monday's deadline.

The roster now sits at 77 players, as 12 players were waived. Wide receiver Terrell Owens, who is 38 years old, headlined the group as his comeback bid came up a bit short. Owens last played in an NFL game in 2010.

The following players were also waived or terminated by the Seahawks:

Linebacker Jameson Konz
Defensive end Pep Levingston
Cornerbacks Roy Lewis, Donny Lisowski and Ron Parker
Tight end Cameron Morrah
Wide receiver Phil Bates
Offensive tackles Edawn Coughman and Alex Barron
Offensive guard Deuce Lutui
Running back Tyrell Sutton

There were a few surprises in these roster cuts. Coach Pete Carroll and the rest of his staff must be really sold on youngsters like J.R. Sweezy to cut veterans like Lutui and Barron.
