There was plenty of excitement in Denver when the Broncos signed Peyton Manning and judging by the attendance numbers at Denver's first scrimmage of training camp, that excitement hasn't waned. A record 41,304 fans turned out to Sports Authority Field to watch Manning and the Broncos practice Saturday.
Peyton Manning, Broncos Draw Huge Crowd At Scrimmage
That number was more than double the previous record of 20,782 which was set in 2010. The huge crowd didn’t go unnoticed by Manning.
“Well, it was a great crowd,” Manning said according to the Associated Press. “I know players were pumped; they were kind of feeding off the energy of the fans and everybody was into it.”
A crowd of 41,304 would be a good preseason crowds, yet alone a training camp scrimmage. To put it in further perspective, it is more than the Cincinnati Bengals drew during three of their eight regular season home games last year.
