Brodney Pool Doesn’t Make It Out Of Dallas Cowboys Training Camp

Safety Brodney Pool made sense for the Dallas Cowboys when they signed him back in March. The team was losing Abe Elam and Pool had played under defensive coordinator Rob Ryan in Cleveland.

But after a week of Cowboys training camp, the team cut ties with him and released Pool on Monday. The move can't be classified as a surprise considering Pool failed his initial conditioning test and was beaten out for the safety job by Barry Church.

Pool signed a one-year contract worth over $1 million in March but the guaranteed money of the deal, which is what truly matters, was just $100,000. That told you right there that Pool wasn’t a lock for the 53-man roster.

The Cowboys secondary was a major concern entering the 2012 offseason but they’ve shored things up by adding Brandon Carr in free agency and drafting Morris Claiborne.
