Sidney Rice may not be ready for Week 1 with the Seattle Seahawks this season, according to SI's Peter King. When writing about Terrell Owens chances of making the team's final roster, King mentioned that Rice is still recovering from two offseason shoulder surgeries.
Sidney Rice’s Week 1 Availability Called Into Question
He's gone to the right place because only Doug Baldwin, Golden Tate and Sidney Rice are near-locks for roster spots -- and Rice might not be ready to start the season after two offseason shoulder surgeries. But he's hardly a roster lock.
Rice has played in just 15 total games over his last two seasons thanks to hip, shoulder and concussion issues. His health may have been a major factor in Seattle’s surprising decision to pursue Owens. There is no denying that Rice could be an elite wideout when healthy. Considering the Seahawks’ unsettled quarterback situation, Rice’s presence could make a world of difference early in the season.
