The New England Patriots started their season with a convincing 34-13 victory over the Tennessee Titans behind running back Stevan Ridley and a defense that came ready for Week 1.
Patriots Vs. Titans, Week 1: New England’s Strong Execution On Both Sides Encouraging
The guys over at Pats Pulpit were encouraged by the first week showing, as Ridley received much praise.
On offense, the Patriots were led by running back Stevan Ridley, who produced 125 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. It’s early, but Ridley looks as good as one could imagine on offense.
Quarterback Tom Brady went 23-for-31 on the day for 234 yards and two touchdowns.
As a unit, the defense was strong against the Titans’ attack, stopping any forward momentum Tennessee seemed to build, helping the Patriots run off 21 straight points after starting the game down 3-0.
Defensively, there was a lot to be excited about. ... The produced solid pressure, with cornerback Devin McCourty, defensive tackle Vince Wilfork, and linebacker Jerod Mayo all turning in strong performances. ... The Patriots top three draft picks, defensive end Chandler Jones, linebacker Dont’a Hightower, and safety Tavon Wilson, all came up with big plays.
