Seahawks Vs. Cardinals, Week 1: Seattle-Arizona Is Intense Rivalry

have There certainly was no sense of an easy home team victory going into Sunday's Seattle Seahawks-Arizona Cardinals game in Glendale, Ariz. In fact, the game hang in the balance until the end, a sign that Arizona-Seattle is turning into a good rivalry in the NFC West.

The Cardinals earned the 20-16 win with their defense. They stopped rookie quarterback Russell Wilson four times in a row deep in the red zone in the final seconds, and they pressured Wilson and made key stops when most needed.

The Seahawks will need to grow from this loss, especially Wilson. He now knows what he will see in the NFL when the games count. He knows what it feels like to try to win the game in crunch time, even if he failed in his first try. He will look at the game film and see what he could have done better.

The Seahawks’ offensive line also will take a lot from this game. Protect Wilson better, and maybe we’re talking about a different outcome.

"The Seahawks' offensive line had a tough time protecting Russell Wilson, especially on the interior - which is something that we've talked about here as being absolutely essential for a 5'11 quarterback, and notched 3 sacks, 7 quarterback hits, and three tackles for a loss."

Seahawks fans can be upset and frustrated, but as Danny Kelly at Field Gulls wrote, he isn’t panicking just yet.

"But, for me anyway, many of the issues are coachable and scheme manageable, particularly with protection on offense and the pressure packages on defense, and some of the sluggishness on the part of the offense can and should be attributable to the fact that this was Russell Wilson's first NFL start.
