Get Will Beatty A Participation Ribbon

James Dator
James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

The life of an offensive lineman is a thankless one. Everyone grows up playing pee wee dreaming of their moment in the NFL where they can make the big play to tell their grandkids about. So when 319-pound offensive tackle Will Beatty had his number called, and he was open in the end zone, there was no way he was going to waste this chance.

Carving through the offensive line, narrowly missing his own man – here it is, dream is about to become reality. “I can’t be open, can I?” thinks Beatty as he sheepishly raises his hand for a split second, always keeping his eye on the ball ... then, oh man! You’ll get ‘em next time, Will, which might be in 10 years or so.
