Steven Jackson Status Update: Rams RB Benched After Unsportsmanlike Conduct Penalty

St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson was benched at the end of the first half on Sunday, and he hasn't played in the second half of the Rams' game against the Washington Redskins.

Jackson was benched after receiving an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. On a 3rd-and-1, he was stopped inches shy of the end zone. After being called short of the goal line, Jackson spiked the football in frustration and drew the penalty. The Rams were backed up 15 yards and forced to settle for a 33-yard field goal.

The St. Louis offense has been rolling along just fine without its star running back. The Rams trail, 28-23, at the end of the third quarter and have 419 yards of offense. Daryl Richardson is leading St. Louis in rushing with 70 yards on seven carries. Jackson had 58 yards on nine carries before his benching.
