Ravens Vs. Eagles, Week 2: Late-Game ‘Ineptitude’ Costs Baltimore Win

The Baltimore Ravens only lost by a point to the Philadelphia Eagles, and after having held a double-digit lead, the defeat seems like it could have been an avoidable one for a squad expected to be among the league's elite.

Baltimore led 17-7 at halftime when things began to fall apart. Bruce Raffel of Baltimore Beat Down had an easy time finding things to fault in the collapse.

After a solid first half performance, Ravens QB Joe Flacco was simply awful in the second half and finished with 20 incompletions for the game, a horrendous number.

His 22 for 42 performance, for 232 yards, does not tell the tale of the offense's ineptitude over the last two quarters. Third down was a nightmare for Baltimore, as they could not convert all day long. The wide receivers had a difficult time getting open all day and only a 99 yard rushing performance by Ray Rice kept the team in the game with a chance to win until the final minute.

Raffel also criticized the defensive effort in a game he termed winnable. Zachary Beard from the site took the opportunity to call out offensive coordinator Cam Cameron for the poor showing, going play-by-play to criticize bad playcalling decisions made as the Ravens squandered their lead.
