NFL Injury Report: Patriots’ Aaron Hernandez Suffers High-Ankle Sprain

Injury report for teams in the AFC East after Week 2 contests.

The second week of the NFL regular season is in the books for the AFC East, and a few notable injures occurred during the up-and-down Sunday that featured the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins earning victories, but the New England Patriots and New York Jets losing.

The most notable injury came from Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, who suffered a high-ankle sprain in New England's 20-18 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Hernandez's injury happened in the first quarter when wide receiver Julian Edelman fell on the right leg of the 6'1, 245-pound tight end, who was seen on crutches and wearing a walking boot after the game.

Sources have told Pro Football Talk that Hernandez could miss up to six weeks with the injury.

Meanwhile, the Jets saw running back Shonn Greene and fullback John Conner both be taken out of their 27-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Greene did return to action in the third quarter as he passed all the concussion tests, while Conner did not return because of a knee injury.

As for the Bills, who easily defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 35-17, they also had a few players suffer head injuries. Veteran safety George Wilson got knocked in the head and left the game briefly but returned, while rookie cornerback Stephon Gilmore had his head hit the turf late in the fourth quarter. He did not return.

The team that came away unscathed in Week 2, was the Dolphins who downed the Oakland Raiders, 35-13.
