New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is expected to miss a few weeks after suffering an ankle injury on Sunday. Hernandez isn't likely to return until at least sometime in October, according to a report from ESPN.com.
Aaron Hernandez Injury: Patriots TE Out Until October At The Earliest
The 22-year-old Hernandez suffered the injury during the first quarter of the Patriots' game against the Arizona Cardinals. Earlier reports said Hernandez suffered a high-ankle sprain and could be out for six weeks.
Losing Hernandez is a big blow for the Patriots, as he was expected to be one of their main offensive weapons this season. He caught six passes for 59 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, but did not catch a pass before leaving the game on Sunday.
With Hernandez out, Rob Gronkowski, Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd will likely play larger roles for the Patriots.
