The San Diego Chargers lead the pack at 2-0 after Week 2 in the AFC West, and they're also the team looking to get the most talent back from injuries in Week 3.
NFL Injury Report: AFC West Has Some Big Names Banged Up
Antonio Gates, Jamaal Charles and Ryan Mathews are all banged up as AFC West teams recover from Week 2 action.
The Chargers hope to get All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates back when they host the also-undefeated Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Gates was inactive for the Chargers' Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans with a rib injury. Same story with running back Ryan Mathews, who has missed the team's first two games with a clavicle injury. The team is hoping for Mathews to return to practice Wednesday and play for the first time this season in Week 3.
If you don't count pride, the Denver Broncos left Monday night's loss to the Falcons relatively unscathed on the injury front. Manuel Ramirez, Chris Harris and Demaryius Thomas were all listed on the pre-game injury report and all played with no reported setbacks. Guard Chris Kuper sat out after not practicing all week.
An injury to running back Jamaal Charles is probably the last thing fans of the 0-2 Kansas City Chiefs want to hear, but after a dismal Week 2 performance in a loss to the Buffalo Bills, Charles is reportedly favoring the same knee that cost him all but two games in 2011. Cornerback Javier Arenas suffered a neck stinger against the Bills and tight end Kevin Boss left after suffering a blow to the head on a 29-yard reception.
The Oakland Raiders, though 0-2, are relatively healthy. Kicker Sebastian Janikowski toughed through a reported groin injury to play in the Week 2 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Backup running back Taiwan Jones also played despite being listed as questionable before the game.
