The Green Bay Packers are on the board, eating up clock on two third quarter possessions that resulted in two Mason Crosby field goals. The Packers used running back Cedric Benson throughout the third, mixing in the pass and run to cut the Seattle lead to 7-6. The Seahawks offense had the ball for just four plays.
Packers Vs. Seahawks Score Update: Green Bay Ends Shutout, Trails 7-6
Green Bay was held scoreless for nearly 37 minutes before finally breaking through. They opened the second half with a drive that stalled out in the red zone, bringing on Crosby for the 29-yard field goal. On third and five, it looked like Aaron Rodgers might find Donald Driver for a touchdown but the the reigning MVP had to move around in the pocket and throw on the run. The ball was too high for Driver as he came across the back of the end zone. Seattle rushed just three men on the play, a situation Rodgers typically picks apart but once again the Packers offense had trouble finding room to operate.
The second drive stalled out just outside the red zone, ending with a Crosby 40-yard field goal. The drive was prolonged moments earlier when Seatlle was whistled for illegal hands to the face fifty yards away from a Cedric Benson run that came up short of the first-down marker. The additional first down put Green Bay well within Crosby’s range.
While Rodgers was pressured in the third quarter, he was not sacked -- a drastic improvement for the Packers after the catastrophic first half. But the Seahawks defense still buckled down when Green Bay entered their territory, keeping the Packers out of the end zone.
