Contrite Chad Johnson Makes ‘Hard Knocks’ Cameo, Vows NFL Return

Chad Johnson, released by the Dolphins three weeks ago, made a cameo on the season finale of HBO's "Hard Knocks," not only vowing to return to the NFL but also suggesting he'll play another five years.

“The Dolphins, I let them down,” said Johnson during an occasionally profane montage showing the unemployed wide receiver working out on the beach and at the gym. “I messed up. I got to suffer the consequences. I made that bed I need to lay in it. So basically I got to start all over.”

Johnson was released soon after he was arrested for allegedly headbutting his new wife, Evelyn Lozada. And even though Lozada has since filed for divorce, Johnson in the episode showed off a new tattoo on his calf featuring her portrait.

“How did I even get to this point?” Johnson asks during the montage. “Somewhere along the way I lost focus. I lost something that I love. I lost two things that I love because of my immature actions.

“I’m going to get both of those back, one step at a time.”

Assuming he gets a second chance, Johnson suggested he might have another half decade left in his career. “I so f-cked everything up,” he said. “I have to re-prove myself again. I still got five years to go.”

“I’m not old,” he said. “34 is ... that’s sexy.
