The Washington Redskins head into their Week 1 matchup at the Superdome against the New Orleans Saints as decided underdogs.
NFL Odds Week 1: Redskins Vs. Saints
The Redskins are heavy underdogs against the Saints in Week 1 at the Superdome.
The Saints are favored by 8 1/2 points at home as they try to move on without head coach Sean Payton, who is suspended for the duration of the 2012 season for his role in the Saints' bounty program. Drew Brees and his high-powered attack could still prove tough to handle for any team, though, especially a Washington squad that isn't expected to light up the scoreboard right away.
Of course, the contest is also the debut of Robert Griffin III. Griffin is looked upon by many as the best rookie quarterback to enter the league this year alongside Andrew Luck and should provide a boost to the often sleepy offense the Redskins featured a season ago.
New Orleans is also one of the toughest places in the league to play, another factor that might be tough for a first-year quarterback to overcome.
