Reports on Thursday night indicate that the Cleveland Browns will name Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski as their new head coach.

The news was announced by both the NFL Network's Albert Breer, and ESPN's Chris Mortensen, but there is still no official announcement from the Browns' organization. Arriving in Carolina in 2011, Chudzinski quickly turned around one of the NFL's worst offenses while simultaneously drawing up a scheme that allowed quarterback Cam Newton to break Peyton Manning's rookie passing record. Finishing with the league's fourth-ranked offense, there was speculation in 2012 that Chudzinski would leave for a head coaching job after interviewing with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The new head coach has history in Cleveland as the team's offensive coordinator in the 2007 and 2008 seasons. In those years, he got a great deal of success out of quarterback Derek Anderson and tight end Kellen Winslow.

Known for his strong belief in the tight end position and a passion for read-option offenses, Chudzinski boasts experience from three different teams and assisting a successful college program at Miami.
