Packers vs. 49ers odds, picks and predictions

It is a tight race between the Packers and the 49ers on who will win, but despite being slightly favored by the odds, the 49ers aren’t getting as much love from the rest of the media.

Much of the nation's sports-minded folks are split on who will come out ahead between the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday and advance to the NFC Championship game.

Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been red-hot as of late, but the Packers have to take down the 49ers at Candlestick Park, where the 49ers were 6-1-1 this season.

That home-field advantage is giving the 49ers a very slight edge for the oddsmakers. San Francisco opened the spread as three-point favorites and have maintained a spread close to that all week.

SB Nation's own Joel Thorman says the game is the best matchup of the week, with two virtually evenly matched teams taking each other on in completely different scenarios since they first met this season in Week 1. Back then, the Packers lost three of five to open the season and current 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was enjoying prime game seats from the bench.

The Packers have been the more consistent team down the stretch. Aaron Rodgers’ ridiculous numbers -- 39 touchdowns to eight interceptions -- look routine (for him) at this point. I’m not all that confident in this pick considering the game is in San Francisco, but I think the Packers will pick up the road victory.

One CBS Sports writer and the Prediction Machine predicted that the 49ers will win straight up, while everyone else went with the Packers. Yahoo! Sports writers went 2-1 in favor of the Packers, and the Yahoo! Sports user community agreed with that assessment.

ESPN was split right down the middle on who will win. Seven of the 12 writers polled picked the 49ers, but both the folks at Accuscore and the Sportsnation community voted on the Packers.
