Eagles coaching rumors: Brian Billick gets dusted off

Brian Billick is reportedly one of the leading candidates for the head coaching job in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Eagles interviewed former Ravens head coach Brian Billick this week, according to a report from Reuben Frank of CSN Philadelphia. Frank added that Billick is considered among the leading candidates for the position. Jay Gruden is another name that has surfaced in the search, with the Bengals offensive coordinator reportedly scheduled to interview on Monday.

The Eagles had reportedly put Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly at the top of their list, but Kelly announced this weekend that he would stay in South Bend.

Billick has not coached in the NFL since 2007, when he was fired as head coach of the Ravens. In nine seasons with the Ravens, Billick’s teams amassed an 80-64 record. In his second season on the job in 2000, the Ravens won their first and only Super Bowl.

Billick has worked in television since 2008, providing both studio and color commentary analysis. He was in the middle of calling Sunday's NFC divisional game between the Falcons and Seahawks when the report surfaced that he had been interviewed by the Eagles.
