Eagles coaching search: Brian Billick ‘I would never say never’ to an NFL return

Brian Billick was asked about his reported interview with the Eagles on Monday. In related news, Brian Billick is really good at saying a lot without answering a question.

After reportedly interviewing with the Philadelphia Eagles last week, Brian Billick appeared on the NFL Network on Monday and was asked about his candidacy for the Eagles' head coach vacancy. While Billick declined to elaborate on his interview with Philadelphia, he did say there are a couple of teams that could be a fit.

Billick said his role with the NFL Network and FOX Sports leads him to regularly talking to general managers and owners. He said he has served in an advisory capacity with a number of teams, but often does talk about his interest in returning to the sideline. While he said he hasn’t been optimistic on a return and not every opening would be a good fit, he wouldn’t rule out the possibility.

“Are there a couple (of teams) out there, is there one out there, that might fit? Certainly,” Billick said, according to Marc Sessler of NFL.com. “I would never say never.”

When further describing what kind of opening might qualify as a fit, Billick narrowed the opportunities down significantly. He said it would have to be the, “right team, in the right situation, that is looking for a specific skill set that I fit -- in a circumstance that would interest me -- and that’s a pretty narrow bandwidth.”

Whether he ends up in Philadelphia or not, Brian Billick proved he is very good at saying a lot without actually saying much.
