AFC Championship 2013: Kevin Faulk, Matt Light serve as honorary captains for Patriots

Former Patriots Kevin Faullk and Matt Light will serve as honorary captains for the AFC title game on Sunday. Both players retired in 2012 after long careers with New England.

Kevin Faulk and Matt Light will serve as honorary captains for the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game Sunday. The two both retired in 2012, and they spent their entire professional careers with the New England organization. The pair met with media members Friday.

“To have the opportunity to do this, and know the guys that have done it in the past like Ty (Law), (Tedy) Bruschi and Drew (Bledsoe), it’s an honor,” Faulk said.

Light echoed those sentiments, calling it “a blessing.”

Faulk accumulated 3,607 yards rushing and 3,701 yards receiving over the course of his 13-year career and he helped the Patriots win three Super Bowl titles.

Light played for 11 seasons and made 153 starts for New England. He earned a trip to the Pro Bowl on three occasions, and he too contributed to three Super Bowl titles.

The 2013 AFC Championship game between the Patriots and Baltimore Ravens is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
