Jon Gruden rumors: No interviews scheduled

Jon Gruden, the ESPN analyst and former Bucs and Raiders coach, is once again a hot topic in the NFL hiring season. As of now, he has yet to schedule any interviews with prospective teams.

ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” analyst Jon Gruden has yet to schedule any interviews for vacant head coaching positions in the NFL, according to a report by Ian Rapoport of NFL.com on Wednesday afternoon.

Gruden has been rumored as being in high-demand to return to the NFL.

Having last coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008, Gruden was hired by ESPN in 2009 to join the "Monday Night Football" booth. Since then, he has gained acclaim and anticipation for an eventual return to the NFL has grown.

With seven vacancies in the NFL, his name has commonly surfaced as a possibility.

Gruden has yet to schedule a meeting with any of those teams and Rapoport reports that a source close to the former coach has stated that he has no plans to meet with any of those teams, either.

The 49-year-old analyst began his head coaching career with the Oakland Raiders in 1998. In 2002, he was traded to the Buccaneers and ultimately went on to lead the team to a Super Bowl victory over the Raiders in 2003.
