On Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs held a press conference to officially introduce Andy Reid as the organization's head coach. Reid started off his conference by saying that he is "very excited to be a Kansas City Chief."

The Kansas City Chiefs introduced Andy Reid as their head coach during a press conference on Monday.

Reid said that there’s “nothing like the sea of red,” referring to the fans at Arrowhead Stadium, which he described as a tough place to play.
Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt said that Reid is “a proven winner who built an outstanding program in Philadelphia over the last 14 years.” He also said one of Reid’s greatest qualities is his integrity, and that he holds “himself and those around him accountable.”
When asked about his time in Philadelphia, Reid said that he takes full responsibility for everything that happened over his 14 years in charge, echoing Hunt’s statements of accountability.
The Chiefs worked hard to get Reid under contract, pursuing him in Philadelphia and taking a hardline approach to prevent Reid from spending too much time talking with the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals were eager to get Reid to come to Arizona for an interview, but the Chiefs locked him down.
They were able to do this by signing him to a five-year contract, according to multiple reports.
There has been much speculation about Reid’s coaching staff, but no moves were immediately announced at the conference. When asked about Reid’s potential coaching staff, the new coach deflected the question, saying that the organization needed to hire a general manager first, to replace Scott Pioli.
To this point, Reid has said that he’s met with some of the current Chiefs coaching staff and has made evaluations, calling them “good guys.” The decision on a new general manager will come down to Hunt, though Reid will sit in on the interview, the coach said.
Hunt said that the new general manager and the head coach will report directly to him, and that he is increasing his interaction with the head coach on a day-to-day basis.
Reid said that he’s taken a look at the roster, and that there are some “good football players.” In regards to the quarterback position, he simply said that it’s all a process, but it’s a safe bet that it will be the point of focus for Reid, an offensive-minded coach.
In regards to the defensive side of the ball, Reid said that they are still evaluating whether or not they will run a 3-4 or a 4-3 defense, depending on the talent on the roster. Beyond that, no real revelations regarding the on-the-field product were reached.
