Eagles coaching search: Bengals grant permission to interview Jay Gruden

Philadelphia received permission to interview Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden on Monday.

After missing out on Chip Kelly, Bill O'Brien and Doug Marrone, the Philadelphia Eagles continue their coaching search and have received permission to interview Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, according to a report from Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News.

The Eagles reportedly requested permission last week and were granted it on Monday after Gruden and the Bengals were eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday. Gruden, the younger brother of former Raider and Buccaneer head coach Jon Gruden, has served as the Bengals offensive coordinator for two seasons. Gruden’s NFL experience also includes six season as an offensive assistant with Tampa Bay. He does have head coaching experience, having been a head coach in the Arena Football League and United Football League.

In addition to Gruden, Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley could also interview soon. The Eagles have already interviewed Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong.
