Eagles coaching rumors: Jay Gruden, Gus Bradley among candidates

A handful of candidates still remain for the Eagles’ head coaching job a week into the search.

With the firing of Andy Reid on Dec. 31, the Philadelphia Eagles embarked on their first coaching search in 14 years.

The week that followed was filled with rumored candidates, interviews and the letdown of Chip Kelly returning to Oregon.

With Kelly off the market, the Eagles have turned to Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden and Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, both of whom have been given permission to interview for the job.

Bruce Arians, who served as the interim head coach for the Indianapolis Colts in Chuck Pagano's absence, is also considered to be a candidate for the position.

Among the other candidates who have interviewed is Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, who has previous head coaching experience with the San Francisco 49ers.

The Eagles are also rumored to be interested in Penn State head coach and former New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien, though his hefty contract buyout could be an issue.
