Panthers GM search: Marc Ross, Jim Popp interviewed

The Carolina Panthers began their general manager interviews on Tuesday with Marc Ross and Jim Popp both interviewing.

The Carolina Panthers general manager search has begun as the Panthers interviewed the first two candidates on Tuesday. New York Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross and Montreal Alouettes general manager Jim Popp both completed interviews on Tuesday, according to a report from Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer.

Ross and Popp were the first two of six candidates expected to interview. The other candidates include Minnesota Vikings assistant general manager George Paton, Tennessee Titans vice president of player personnel Lake Dawson, Giants senior pro personnel analyst Dave Gettleman and current Panthers interim general manager Brandon Beane.

The Panthers were the fourth team to interview Ross, joining the New York Jets, San Diego Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars. Ross is one of the favorites fill Carolina's general manager vacancy. Popp has had plenty of success in the Canadian Football League as the Alouettes have gone 198-107-1 during his tenure as general manager.

The Panthers are expected to have all of their general manager interviews completed by Saturday.
