NFL moves: Bengals sign Michael Boley, Rams re-sign Jo-Lonn Dunbar

There were a handful of minor roster moves made on Tuesday morning.

USA TODAY Sports
  • The Cincinnati Bengals have signed linebacker Michael Boley. Boley played in 16 games for the New York Giants, recording 92 tackles, 0.5 sacks and three interceptions. He didn't find any team to sign with in the offseason. Boley worked out with the Bengals in early September and is expected to serve as veteran depth.
  • The St. Louis Rams are expected to re-sign linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora. Dunbar was released by the Rams before the season when the NFL gave him a four-game suspension for a PED violation. His suspension is now lifted, and the Rams plan on bringing him back. Dunbar recorded 114 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions with St. Louis last season.
  • The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have begun shaking up their roster, although Josh Freeman is not involved in this round of cuts. The team released wide receiver Kevin Ogletree and defensive back Ahmad Black. Ogletree had eight catches for 70 yards and a touchdown on the season. Black appeared in all four games, totaling 12 tackles.
  • The Washington Redskins have released defensive end Phillip Merling and kicker John Potter. Merling was a former first-round pick with the Miami Dolphins in 2008. The Redskins were his third team in six years. Potter took over for Kai Forbath, who missed time with a groin injury. He made 3-of-4 field goals for the Redskins. Forbath is expected to be back after the Week 5 bye, making Potter expendable.
