The Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers will meet in Week 6 on Sunday afternoon at Mall of America Field, both searching for a crucial victory.

Minnesota (1-3) is coming off a bye week following a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in London. Matt Cassel took the reigns in that contest for an injured Christian Ponder, and led the team along with Adrian Peterson to its first victory of 2013.

This week, the Vikings signed quarterback Josh Freeman, who had been released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a week prior. Head coach Leslie Frazier said Freeman will be in the mix to start down the road, but will certainly be a backup against the Panthers.

Carolina (1-3) was drubbed 22-6 by the Arizona Cardinals last weekend following its bye, putting it 3.5 games behind the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South. Much talk around the Panthers has been about the job security of coach Ron Rivera, who to this point has been backed by the front office.
