Robert Griffin III struggles with consistency during Week 6 loss

As RGIII went, the Redskins went on Sunday night. They ended up losing to Dallas.

After a bad start to the year, Robert Griffin III came out playing pretty well against the Cowboys on Sunday night. When the Redskins needed him to shine, though, he seemed to fall apart with poor decision making.

Though the Redskins trailed 14-6 at half, they came out and answered with a field goal to cap off a 10-play, 65-yard drive on their first possession of the third quarter. Then, down 21-9, Griffin used his legs to move the ball down the field before Alfred Morris found the end zone on a 45-yard touchdown run.

Washington had all the momentum. It seemed like their fortunes were finally turning around against an NFC East rival.

Instead of staying poised as the fourth quarter arrived, Griffin appeared to begin rushing himself and stopped making the correct reads. Backed up deep in his own territory, he stumbled in the pocket and was stripped by a Cowboys defensive linemen on the 3-yard line. Dallas went on to punch the ball in, taking a 31-16 lead.

The Redskins still had a chance to make a comeback down 15 midway through the fourth, but an errant pass intercepted in the back of the end zone all but ended any chance they had. There weren’t any Washington wideouts within 15 yards of the pass.

While he did look to be healthier than he has at any point all year, Griffin just didn’t play all that well against the Cowboys on Sunday night. The Redskins had a chance to turn their season around, and their second-year quarterback was unable to help them do so.
