Michael Vick focused on health, not Eagles quarterback battle

Vick is only concerned about feeling better, not the play of Nick Foles.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is not concerned about his job security following the performance put on by Nick Foles in a 31-20 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Instead, the former Virginia Tech star is focusing on his health, which might keep him out of this weekend's showdown against the Dallas Cowboys, per Philly.com.

“He’s a great football player,” Vick told reporters after the game. “But that’s not something I’m going to worry about. I’m going to worry about my health.”

Vick has been out since the second quarter of the win over the New York Giants when he scrambled out of bounds and pulled up lame with a balky hamstring. Vick was the emergency quarterback after being deemed active for the Tampa Bay game, but was not needed as Foles threw for 296 yards and a trio of touchdowns.

So far this season, Vick has played well except for a disastrous game against the Kansas City Chiefs in which he lost two fumbles and threw a pair on interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. Still, the debate will likely rage as to whether Foles or Vick gives Philadelphia the best chance to win.
