Von Miller ready to return from suspension for Broncos

Denver’s defense should get better with the return of its sackmaster.

Doug Pensinger

After being suspended for the first six games of the season due to violating the NFL's drug policy, Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller is reinstated and ready to return, per the Denver Post.

Miller says while he has been on the sidelines for the first month and a half, he is more than ready to go, per the Post:

“I still move like a wildcat,” Miller said. “I’m still quick. I’m still going to cover guys. I’m in the best shape of my life. Emotionally I’m in a very good place. Nutrition, I’ve stepped it up. Usually during the season you get away from it because everything is moving so fast.”

Without Miller, the Broncos have gone 6-0 but struggled defensively. The defense has been able to pressure the quarterback though, making 17 sacks including 5.5 by free agent pickup Shaun Phillips.

Still, Denver ranks an ugly 29th in yards allowed per game with 407.5, better only than the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles.

The Broncos are even worse against the pass, ranking dead last with over 337 yards allowed per game. Having Miller back will certainly help, as Denver will be able to blitz less and drop more into coverage. Last season, Miller registered 18.5 sacks after having 11.5 in his rookie season.
