Cowboys injuries: DeMarco Murray, Lance Dunbar miss Thursday’s practice

The Cowboys were without running backs DeMarco Murray and Lance Dunbar on Thursday.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Cowboys' running back group is a little thin leading up to their NFC East battle in Week 7 against the Eagles. Both starting running back DeMarco Murray and backup Lance Dunbar were held out of practice on Thursday, according to ESPN Dallas scribe Calvin Watkins. Murray sprained his MCL in the Week 6, win over the Redskins and Dunbar has been hampered by a hamstring strain.

The two backs sat out on Wednesday, as well, and neither is expected to play on Sunday. The replacements for Dunbar and Murray against the Eagles would be rookie Joseph Randle and Phillip Tanner. Philadelphia ranks 16th in the league against the run and allows 105 yards per game. The Cowboys will likely attack the Eagles through the air, where Philadelphia ranks 31st in the NFL.

Both teams are 3-3. and the winner will gain sole possession of the lead in the NFC East.
