NFL releases statement on Josh Freeman confidentially violation

The NFL has broken its silence on the leaking of Josh Freeman’s medical information.

The NFL has released a statement on the confidentiality violation of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman. When asked whether the league will investigate the medical leaks, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello had this to day, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times:

“We do not believe it is appropriate to comment but the confidentiality provision of our drug program is critically important and a breach of that confidentiality by any party is a serious violation of our collectively bargained policy.”

The Freeman saga in Tampa has taken several strange turns this week. An ESPN report on Monday says that Freeman was in Stage One of the NFL’s drug program. Freeman fired back several hours later with a statement of his own, saying that he voluntarily entered the program after mixing up prescriptions for his ADHD medication. The NFL Player’s Association has vowed to investigate the leak. Coach Greg Schiano has denied involvement.

The Bucs have reached out to nearly every team in the league looking for a trade, but interest is mild at best.
