Ben Tate injury: Houston RB returns after short exit

The Texans’ running game took another hit. Ben Tate got injured early in the third quarter, but he has since re-entered.

Houston Texans running back Ben Tate left Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs but returned after being sidelined for several plays.

Tate went down early in the third quarter after a carry. The nature of his injury is not known at the moment, but he was spotted rolling around on the field in pain. He later walked off the field under his own power, but ended up only missing one drive. He came back into the game later.

Tate's injury is yet another blow to the Texans' backfield. Arian Foster left earlier with a hamstring injury and was already ruled out for the game. Tate was the last running back left on the active roster with rookie Cierre Wood inactive. When Tate was out, fullback Greg Jones stepped in as the running back. Houston's running back problems are yet another challenge for Case Keenum, who is making his first start in the NFL. Keenum has been surprisingly effective so far, but the lack of a running game will give him a big challenge against Kansas City's fierce defense.
