Michael Vick ‘likely to play’ for Eagles even if not fully healthy

In all likelihood, Vick will be on the field next week for Philadelphia in the place of Nick Foles.

Rich Schultz

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is likely to play on Sunday against the New York Giants despite not being 100 percent recovered from his hamstring injury, according to Jeff McLane.

Nick Foles started the last two games for Philadelphia, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before losing to the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday. Against the Cowboys, Foles suffered a head injury in the second half of the game and did not return, giving way to Matt Barkley.

Mike Kaye of Bleeding Green Nation wrote about Foles’ day before he got injured, which certainly was nothing to write home about:

The second-year passer went 11-of-29 for 80 yard and zero scores. Those are Andrew Walters/Ryan Lindley numbers. It was a tough game for Foles, who Troy Aikman noted several times, that he seemed uncomfortable during the game after taking several hits. The hits frankly don't matter, as that is life in the NFL. He failed to throw with accuracy or consistency. While he was able to run the ball to some success, his day as a passer was horrific. He may not have turned the ball over, but he did allow for plenty of possessions to end without a score.

Should Foles have to miss the Giants game with an injury, Barkley will be the backup behind Vick. Vick was originally injured in the second quarter on a scramble out of bounds at MetLife Stadium.
