Percy Harvin injury: Seahawks WR returns to practice

Percy Harvin is still on the PUP list, but is back practicing with the Seahawks.

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

Less than three months after he had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip, Seattle's Percy Harvin is ready to return to practice.

Although he’ll resume practicing on Tuesday, Harvin remains on the physically unable to perform list and has not been added to the active roster. Seattle could still add Harvin to the active roster this week, but would have to do so by Sunday for him to be eligible to play on Monday against St. Louis. Harvin is eligible to practice while on the PUP list for three weeks. At that point he must either be added to the active roster or placed on injured reserve. Assuming he avoids injured reserve, at the latest, Harvin would be activated for Seattle’s Week 11 game against Minnesota, his former team.

When Harvin opted for surgery, there was wide speculation of when he could return. Some reports indicated the injury could cause him to miss the entire season, while many expected him to return in late November. It appears Harvin will return even sooner and he has made steady progress. He resumed running earlier this month and rejoined the team in Seattle after going through an extensive rehabilitation program in New York.
