Coming off a 2-14 season, the Kansas City Chiefs are now 7-0 and the last undefeated team in the NFL. This isn’t the first time Kansas City was the last unbeaten team. The Chiefs began the 2003 season 9-0 before finishing 13-3.
NFL standings, Week 7: Chiefs now the lone unbeaten team
With Denver losing, Kansas City is now alone at the top of the AFC West standings and the only undefeated team remaining.

The Chiefs improved to 7-0 with a 17-16 win against the Houston Texans, while Denver’s loss against Indianapolis dropped it from the ranks of the undefeated. Denver’s loss also dropped it behind Kansas City in the AFC West. Here’s a complete look at how the divisions stack up through seven weeks.
The Chiefs now hold a one-game advantage over the Broncos with the NFL season heading to the midway point. Denver is still in great position for the playoffs at 6-1, despite the setback against the Colts. The Chargers are off to a solid start at 4-3, but they are a distant third behind the top two. Oakland is the only team in the division with a negative point differential.
With its win against Denver, Indianapolis improved to 5-2 on the season and has a two-game lead in the AFC South. Even more impressive, three of the Colts' five wins came against Denver, Seattle and San Francisco, three Super Bowl favorites heading into the season.
The Titans lost their third straight game on Sunday, dropping them another game behind the Colts. Houston has lost five straight and also lost Brian Cushing for the year. The Jaguars remain in search of their first win of the season.
Cincinnati is yet to win a game by more than 10 points, but the Bengals are in control of the AFC North at 5-2. The Bengals are coming off their second straight three-point win and their fourth win by a touchdown or less. Baltimore started the season 3-2 but has now dropped under .500 with back-to-back losses. Cleveland is also 3-4 and coming off two straight losses. Pittsburgh has won two games in a row, but still has ground to make up at 2-4.
New England remains atop the AFC East, but its lead is much smaller after the Patriots lost to the Jets on Sunday. If the Patriots had come away with the win, they would have had a three-game lead over New York. Instead, the Jets are one game back at 4-3. Miami is still in contention, but has now lost three straight after a 3-0 start. Buffalo has lost multiple close games this season and is 3-4 despite having just a minus-19 point differential.
Seattle improved to 3-1 on the road with a 34-22 win against Arizona. Seattle has had issues on the road in recent years, but its success while travelling this season is a big reason why the Seahawks lead the division. Seattle’s plus-75 point differential is the best in the NFC.
San Francisco has now won four in a row after a 1-2 start. Like Seattle, the 49ers picked up a nice win on the road, knocking off Tennessee. St. Louis is 3-4, but will now be forced to play without Sam Bradford for the rest of the season. The Cardinals had trouble keeping up with Seattle and are 0-3 in the division.
The Saints will come off their bye week with a two-game lead in the division. New Orleans is one of three teams still undefeated in conference play in the NFC. Carolina has won two straight games and heads to Tampa Bay for a Thursday night game. Atlanta got back in the win column with a victory over Tampa Bay, who is still searching for its first win. To make matters worse for the Bucs, Doug Martin may miss the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury.
The Packers keep on rolling despite all of their injuries, and their three-game winning streak has them atop the NFC North. Detroit and Chicago are right behind Green Bay at 4-3. Detroit has now lost two close games, something it needs to avoid in order to keep pace. The good news for Chicago is that the Bears have scored the most points in the NFC. The bad news is they’ve allowed the second most. Minnesota dropped to 1-5 on the season with an ugly loss to the New York Giants. The Vikings’ offense has a lot of work to do.
With its 17-3 win against the Eagles, Dallas is now atop the NFC East. At 4-3, the Cowboys are the only team above .500 in the division. Philadelphia has been up and down this season and will now attempt to stay in contention with both Michael Vick and Nick Foles at less than 100 percent.
Washington is still in contention although it has ground to make up and is 0-2 in the division. New York picked up its first win of the season, but still has a lot of work to do if it is going to get back in contention.
