Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley suffered a bruised spinal cord in Sunday's 31-13 win over the Cleveland Browns, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Finley was injured while trying to catch a pass in the second half of the game, being hit helmet-to-helmet inadvertently. The tight end stayed down on the field for several minutes moving only his head before the medical staff placed him on a backboard, removed his facemask and took him to a hospital.

After spending almost a full 24 hours in the intensive care unit, Finley was released but the extent of the damage is unknown. What is known is Finley has full movement in his body, which of course is by far the most important thing. Surgery has also reportedly been ruled out.

There is currently no timetable for his return, and may not be for a while. Head coach Mike McCarthy talked about the situation, noting there is only one focus right now, per the article:

“At the end of the day,” McCarthy said, “we’re going to do what’s in the best interest of Jermichael Finley.”
