Doug Martin injury: Buccaneers RB says he’s not out for the year

Tampa Bay’s star running back says you have not seen the last of him in 2013.

Al Messerschmidt

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin says he will return this season, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Martin, who was injured in the Buccaneers' 31-23 loss to the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome last Sunday, does not think he will have to miss the remaining 10 games, despite reportedly being diagnosed with a torn labrum in his shoulder. The team has yet to confirm or deny those reports.

Without Martin, the already winless Buccaneers would be in an even tougher spot, considering he is the focal point of the offense. With rookie Mike Glennon running the show behind center, Martin provides a solid security blanket in both the run and passing games.

To date, Martin has rushed for 456 yards this season on 3.6 yards per carry to accompany 12 catches for 66 yards. The former Boise State star finished fifth in the league during his rookie season in rushing yardage, behind only Adrian Peterson, Alfred Morris, Jamaal Charles and Marshawn Lynch.
