New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has been at the center of trade rumors since the team opened the season with a series of losses and poor veteran play. Despite the Giants' struggles in 2013 the team isn't planning to trade the receiver, according to Ian Rapoport.

There are plenty of interested parties in a receiver with Nicks' skills, especially in a season where so many teams have lost top players. The Atlanta Falcons are without Julio Jones, Indianapolis Colts are missing Reggie Wayne and the Green Bay Packers will be without Randall Cobb for several more weeks. Rapoport reports that a third round pick could be enough to force the Giants' hand and part with Nicks -- regardless of their plans to stay pat through the trade deadline.
Nicks is having one of his best seasons, despite the issues in New York. He has 470 receiving yards this season, on pace for 1,074 -- which would be the second-highest of his career. His issue this year mirrors the team as a whole, an inability to find the end zone, as he has not caught a touchdown pass in 2013.
A team could potentially trade for Nicks with the intention of placing the franchise tag on him in 2014 or signing him to a new deal, meaning a team willing to make a move could get more than just a seven week rental.
The NFL trade deadline ends on Tuesday, and Nicks will be a player to watch.
