Cowboys vs. Lions 2013 results: Detroit pulls off miracle comeback behind historic Calvin Johnson performance

Needing 80 yards in barely more than a minute and no timeouts, the Lions did the unthinkable. Meanwhile, Johnson had one of the great games of all-time.

Rewarding Calvin Johnson for a historic performance, the Detroit Lions pulled off a stunning comeback victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon. Down 30-24 with no timeouts and less than a minute to play, Matthew Stafford led the Lions on an 80-yard drive capped off on a quarterback-keeper with 12 seconds left to give Detroit a 31-30 win.

In an unbelievable turn of events, the Lions improved to 5-3 and dropped the Cowboys to 4-4.

Stafford hit Johnson twice on the final drive, capping off one of the great single-game performances in NFL history. Johnson caught 14 passes for 329 yards and a touchdown, the second-most receiving yards in one game ever. He was just seven yards shy of the all-time record, held by former Rams receiver Flipper Anderson.

Detroit had 623 yards of total offense in the game and won despite four turnovers.

Fantasy Studs and Duds

“Stud” would not be enough to describe the day that Johnson had. He was on point more than he’s ever been in his career, or more than most players ever. Stafford passed for 488 yards with one rushing touchdown and one throwing touchdown. If you have Johnson, you’re probably winning this week.

Tony Romo had 198 yards passing and three touchdowns, but Cowboys running back Joseph Randle had just 26 yards on 14 carries. Dez Bryant caught two touchdowns of his own.

Injury Report

Cowboys guard Brian Waters suffered a triceps injury and did not return.

Lions receiver Ryan Broyles left with an Achilles injury and did not return. Reggie Bush left with an apparent shoulder injury, but did come back into the game.

Did They Cover?

The Lions were favored by three points, according to OddsShark.com, so they did not quite cover.
