Ryan Broyles injury: Lions WR has ruptured Achilles

Ryan Broyles’ season may be over after suffering a ruptured Achilles in Sunday’s game.

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz says that wide receiver Ryan Broyles has a ruptured Achilles tendon, according to Tim Twentyman. It could end his 2013 season.

Broyles suffered the injury in Sunday's thrilling win over the Dallas Cowboys. The ruptured Achilles is yet another long-term injury for the snake-bitten receiver to deal with. Broyles tore his ACL on both legs, once in college and again last season, costing him six games in 2012. He returned in time for training camp, but was slow to recover and never made a real impact this season. Broyles has just eight catches for 85 yards and played in six of eight games for the Lions this season.

With so many devastating injuries in a short span of time, it's fair to wonder if Broyles' career will continue. He made a valiant effort to come back from his ACL injury this year, but just wasn't able to get to 100 percent. Now he has another season-ending injury to deal with. The Lions will go with Kris Durham as the No. 2 receiver behind Calvin Johnson.
