The Denver Broncos scored 38 unanswered points in the second half of their game against the Washington Redskins, leading to a 45-21 home win on Sunday.
Redskins vs. Broncos 2013: Robert Griffin’s ‘rough outing’ costs Washington
Washington appeared in position to pull off the upset before getting blown out of the building.

Early in the third quarter, it appeared Denver might lose its second consecutive game when Peyton Manning lost a fumble inside his red zone and then threw a pick-six to DeAngelo Hall, giving the Redskins a 21-7 lead. However, the Broncos then showed why they are a title contender, pouring on 38 points in the final 20 minutes.
Despite turning the ball over four times in the game, including three Manning interceptions, Denver racked up 446 yards of total offense.
Over at Mile High Report, Kyle Montgomery wrote about the Broncos defense stepped up, allowing 266 yards but more importantly making life miserable for Robert Griffin III:
Redskins QB Robert Griffin III had a rough outing, getting hit 11 times and leaving the game with a left knee injury late. His 132 passing yards easily marked the worst performance by a QB against Denver's suspect passing defense this season. Broncos defenders Terrance Knighton and Von Miller each had particularly strong games pursuing RGIII, notching a sack apiece (Miller's first on the season) while Knighton's pressure also forced a late Griffin interception.
As for Washington, it now sits at 2-5 and in some trouble when it comes to securing a playoff berth. The saving grace for the Redskins is the division they play in, the NFC East, which is being led by the 4-4 Dallas Cowboys.
Sean R. Patterson of Hogs Haven broke down Sunday’s showing, talking about Griffin’s sub-par effort:
Robert Griffin III made a huge mistake when he tried to throw the ball to a double-covered Jordan Reed late in the second quarter. Garcon was open for a touchdown and Morgan was wide open for a big play first down. Griffin should consider him lucky that his mistake was not a turnover. He was not so lucky the rest of the game.
Next week, Denver has a bye while Washington hosts the San Diego Chargers.
