Brian Hoyer injury: Browns QB leaves Thursday’s game early in 1st quarter

Brian Hoyer will not return after suffering a right knee injury early during Thursday’s bout between the Browns and the Bills.

Brian Hoyer suffered a right knee injury early during Thursday night's game between the Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills. The quarterback slid on the Browns' second possession of the game, and took an awkward hit from Bills rookie linebacker Kiko Alonso. According to Alex Flanagan the Browns are fearful of torn ligaments, and he will undergo an MRI.

Hoyer was forced to leave the game as he limped to the locker room with the help of trainers. Hoyer appeared unable to put weight on his right leg, and trainers may have been checking him for an ACL injury. It was announced that he will not return to tonight’s game.

Brandon Weeden is now in the game for the Browns. Weeden, of course, began the season as the Browns' starting quarterback before being displaced by Hoyer. Both players have two starts on the season. The Browns went 0-2 under Weeden, and he went 47-for-86 passing for 516 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. The team then won two straight under Hoyer as he went 55-for-92 passing for 590 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions.
